Rochester, New York State

In this episode of the Travel Show - Chris visits Rochester, New York, in the Finger Lakes Region. Just 90 minutes across the border from Toronto, and a half-day’s drive from Montreal - Rochester offers a bustling city break close to the magnificent lakes, gorges and over 1000 waterfalls of this picturesque part of New York State. Rochester is the third largest city in New York State, and as Rochesterville back in the early 1800’s, it was the first boom town in the United States. Today it’s a great choice for a girlfriend’s getaway, a family vacation or a couple’s city break. A short drive from Rochester, in the heart of Finger Lakes wine country, is the one-of-a-kind Corning Museum of Glass, housing the world’s largest collection of glass art spanning thirty-five centuries – and featuring live demonstrations of glass blowing! Stop in to the Corning Museum of Glass, currently aglow in the exhibition of glasswork by Lalique (who invented the glass perfume bottle). And be your own “glass master”; there are workshops offered every day.
